There are plenty of options when it comes to product packaging. There’s a good chance that you won’t be running out of material anytime soon. However, with so many options available to you, what is the best option that’s widely available and easy to obtain? Why, the common cardboard box, of course!

Why should you rely on such an antiquated form of packaging though? Well, the guide below will offer five good reasons to consider packing your products into ever trusty cardboard boxes.

1. Cheapness

This is an easy entry because it’s just so true in many respects. Cardboard packaging is as cheap as it gets, and even sometimes completely free. Sure, there are downsides to the cheapness of the material, but it’s often a great way to package products that aren’t exactly fragile or incredibly important.

If you’re really curious, you may even be able to find good, sturdy cardboard boxes for free at warehouses or at retail stores that have no more use for them. Cheapness isn’t a very appealing quality to some, but free is never a really bad thing, right?

2. Availability

Honestly, have you ever been somewhere where you didn’t see one or two cardboard boxes? Chances are that you haven’t, unless you’ve been to an insanely remote area before. They’re something of a constant in life, as no matter where you go, how far you travel, or where your package may be headed, there will most likely be cardboard boxes available.

Plus, they will most likely still be cheap wherever you go, too. So, if you’re ever in a pinch to package something, you’ll probably have quick access to cardboard packaging.

3. Flexibility and Variety

Products come in all shapes and sizes, and luckily, cardboard boxes do, as well. Chances are, no matter what form of product that you’re transporting, you will be able to find a good cardboard box to accommodate the dimensions and fragility of whatever it is.

Plus, they can be further perfected, as you can actually cut, fold, or fit the cardboard to the package, depending on whatever your needs may be. This solves any issue with oddly shaped items that you have to get to a certain destination.

4. Weight

Cardboard boxes are quite light, making for easy carrying conditions. This is important for products that are heavy as it is. After all, no one wants to have to carry a heavy package upstairs or for a long distance, further increasing the likelihood of said package being dropped. Plus, it makes it easier on the delivery person and recipient, which is always a nice thing to do, even if you may never meet them in your life time.

5. Package Safety

Most of us have experienced that dreaded day. The day that finally arrives after anxiously waiting for our new package, carrying whatever it is that has been on our mind since we ordered it. Then we tear open the package like a rabid animal only to inevitably find that our precious item has been ultimately destroyed in shipping. It can be a truly soul crushing experience, but thankfully a sturdy cardboard box can help prevent this horrible event from happening to another unsuspecting victim.

It isn’t entirely certain that the product won’t be destroyed due to mishandling during shipping, but using cardboard packaging just may give the item a fighting chance to survive. After all, wouldn’t it be nice to spare someone that soul crushing heartache after finally receiving their long awaited package?
